Data Privacy: Developments in Regulatory Enforcement
Partners Mark Mao and Ron Raether were published in LexisNexis’ Privacy & Cybersecurity Law Report. Their article shares developments in privacy regulatory enforcement. They write, “Perhaps due in part to the heightened international focus on privacy law, regulators in the United States are taking aggressive stances on privacy practices, many of which have been responsible for the technological growth in the United States these past two decades. It is important to note that while the Federal Trade Commission (‘‘FTC’’) and state attorneys general (‘‘AGs’’) continue to be very active, the Office of Civil Rights (‘‘OCR’’) and the Department of Health and Human Services (‘‘HHS’’) continue to impose the highest fines per consumer through regulatory enforcement.”
