New Managing Partner Begins at Troutman Sanders
Stephen Lewis Starts 2011 In New Leadership Role
ATLANTA – Troutman Sanders LLP is pleased to announce that Stephen E. Lewis became the firm’s new Managing Partner effective January 1. Lewis succeeds Robert W. Webb Jr., who remains the firm’s Chairman after serving for 17 years as Managing Partner.
Lewis, 44, previously led Troutman Sanders’ Corporate section of more than 150 attorneys. In that capacity, he oversaw and managed the firm’s seven corporate practice areas, including Securities & Corporate Governance; Mergers, Acquisitions & Business Ventures; Tax; Closely Held Business & Entrepreneurial Services; Healthcare; Financial Institutions; and Trusts & Estates.
Succeeding Lewis as Corporate section chief, also effective January 1, is Andrea M. Farley, a Corporate partner since 2004. Farley, 39, is the first female section chief at Troutman Sanders and will lead the second-largest of the law firm’s five sections.
“I’m excited to be working closely with Bob Webb and the rest of the Troutman Sanders management team as we look for ways to grow our practice areas and offices in a manner designed to better serve our clients,” said Lewis. “At Troutman Sanders our clients always come first, which means we must continue to deliver excellent client service, outstanding legal work and great value to our clients.”
Lewis began his career at Troutman Sanders in 1991 as an associate. He was named partner in 1999 and was first elected to the firm’s executive committee in 2003. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of North Carolina.
Throughout his career, Lewis has used his accounting and finance background to understand his clients’ businesses and provide business-oriented legal advice to management and boards of directors. He specializes in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and general business matters. He has received numerous legal honors, including being selected five times to Georgia Trend magazine’s Legal Elite and six times as a Super Lawyer by Atlanta Magazine and Law & Politics for merger and acquisition law excellence.
