Partner Mike Hobbs Named to Executive Committee of Newly-Formed Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance (GIPA)
ATLANTA – Atlanta-based intellectual property (IP) partner Michael “Mike” D. Hobbs has been named Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance (GIPA), which has been established to provide Georgia with a better model for creating, protecting and enabling IP. GIPA will serve as the umbrella organization for an efficient ecosystem of partners, all focused on accelerating the market launch of ideas that serve the common good.
Hobbs is actively involved in IP registration, licensing and litigation throughout the United States and internationally. He frequently represents clients in Federal Court and specializes in IP and technology matters. Hobbs has represented clients in actions and negotiations across the spectrum of IP, including trademarks, copyrights, advertising, trade secrets, anti-counterfeiting, covenants not to compete, covenants not to disclose, computer software, publishing, endorsements, the internet and domain names.
Hobbs currently serves as Trademark Committee Chair and Past President of the Intellectual Property Section of the State Bar of Georgia and as President of Leadership Atlanta (2018-2019). He is also a member of the Atlanta IP Inn of Court.
In addition to Hobbs, the GIPA Executive Committee is led by Chair Scott Frank (President & CEO of AT&T Intellectual Property); Vice Chair Keith Cowan (former President of Strategy & Corporate Development for Sprint); Treasurer Michael Wright (former Vice President of Finance for Coca-Cola); and Executive Director Carol Beckham, (former Vice President of AT&T Intellectual Property).
The GIPA Board currently has over 50 members, with representation from the State of Georgia; Georgia Chamber of Commerce; Technology Association of Georgia; Metro Atlanta Chamber; FinTech Atlanta; Georgia Research Alliance; Emory University; Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University; University of Georgia; Georgia and Atlanta Bar Associations; and Georgia Lawyers for the Arts. Additional members include more than a dozen law firms, corporations, consultants and inventors.
