Troutman Sanders and Partner Robert Angle Shortlisted for Benchmark Litigation Awards
ATLANTA/RICHMOND – Troutman Sanders LLP is pleased to announce that it has been shortlisted for three Benchmark Litigation awards – an overall southern region award for Intellectual Property Practice Group of the Year, and Firm of the Year and Case of the Year awards in the Virginia state category. Additionally, Richmond partner Robert A. Angle has been shortlisted to be named the Virginia Litigator of the Year.
To determine those to be shortlisted, Benchmark Litigation used independent research as well as solicited submissions to determine what firms and individuals should qualify for particular awards. Winners will be announced on Thursday, March 8, at the Ritz-Carlton in Atlanta, Georgia.
Angle’s nomination for Virginia Litigator of the Year came as a result of his work in the fall of 2011 defending Twitter, Inc., the micro-blogging Internet company, in a patent infringement lawsuit in Norfolk, Virginia. The jury returned a unanimous verdict for Twitter, finding it did not infringe the asserted patent and finding the patent to be invalid. The outcome of this case was used as criteria for the firm’s short listing in the Case of the Year category.
Angle is the head of litigation for Troutman Sanders’ Virginia offices, co-leader of the firm’s Electronic Discovery and Data Management practice team, and is a member of the firm's Complex Litigation, Intellectual Property Litigation and Antitrust practice groups.
