Mark Payne was quoted in an SHRM article titled, “Will California Employees Get More Paid Time Off?” As many California-based companies, such as Google and Netflix implement more generous paid-leave policies, employers could face potential logistical difficulties in maintaining operations, especially if there is no readily available replacement for the worker. Payne states that, "Any time you have employees who are absent from work, either the work isn't getting done, or it has to be done by other people.” He added, “Smaller businesses often have the most difficulty accommodating these absences.”
