Before shifting his focus to pro bono work, Tony had a strong track record in complex litigation. Pharmaceutical and medical device companies relied on Tony for trial representation in personal injury and other matters, especially class actions and multidistrict litigation.
Tony is a fellow of The Pepper Center for Public Service. The Pepper Center draws on the talents of the firm’s retired partners and senior attorneys to wrestle with tough problems facing our communities. Through the Center, these attorneys study, analyze, and work to resolve problems that affect the lives of people in our communities.
Tony is a former partner in the firm's health sciences litigation practice. He has vast experience defending pharmaceutical, medical device, and other product companies in complex litigation around personal injury and economic loss. His experience includes serving as trial counsel in Tadai v. Eli Lilly and Co. (Los Angeles Superior Court), which resulted in a defense verdict in November 2011.
After retiring as a partner, Tony has transitioned to representing noncitizens in immigration proceedings. In this capacity, nonprofit agencies representing noncitizens in immigration proceedings often turn to Tony for assistance. Working with associates in the firm, Tony has represented men, women, and children from numerous countries in immigration court, before the Board of Immigration Appeals, and in the federal courts of appeals. Tony's pro bono representation includes the following victories in the Court of Appeals:
