We help our natural gas clients face the unique challenges and opportunities of today's energy market by offering practical, seasoned advice built on decades of experience representing natural gas industry participants and work on precedent-setting cases.
We work with our clients to navigate the unique and complex issues involved with natural gas development, exploration, production, gathering and processing, transportation and storage, and local delivery systems. We have participated in the development and implementation of all aspects of federal natural gas regulatory policy over the past quarter century, including FERC Order Nos. 436, 636, 637, and 712. We also have worked on FERC's policy statements pertaining to pipeline certificates, negotiated rates and its substantially broadened enforcement arena, as well as various infrastructure-development initiatives.
We regularly represent interstate and intrastate natural gas pipelines, natural gas gathering and product extraction companies, investors, developers, storage companies, LDCs, large consumers, and natural gas marketing, trading and asset-management companies. Our experienced litigators have represented clients in high-profile cases and investigations, helping businesses resolve disputes and refocus their attention on their business objectives.
We have counseled companies, financiers, and investors in mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, passive equity investments, and other transactions. We advise clients in bankruptcies and restructurings, debt and equity financings, bond issues and cross-border listings, and help companies obtain regulatory approvals and licenses. We have also advised sovereign governments, including the governments of Cambodia, Guyana, India, Kazakhstan, and Nigeria, in privatizations and restructuring of state-owned assets.
Our energy regulatory, real estate, and environmental attorneys counsel clients on siting and construction of pipelines, aboveground tanks and other facilities, including obtaining FERC certificates, easements, rights of way, and other means of access to private and public lands and the federal, state and local regulation of pipeline facilities. We deliver rapid, effective guidance in the event of spills and other accidents involving hazardous materials.
We have substantial experience representing clients in FERC natural gas pipeline tariff and rate proceedings, and Office of Enforcement proceedings, including audits, self-reports, and investigations. We have undertaken legal and regulatory compliance audits for several large utilities in different regions of the U.S., as well as for a large energy trading company, and have developed compliance programs for affiliate standards of conduct and market-behavior rules (including price-reporting protocols).
